George, a soft-spoken, gentle man, was born in Minneapolis and has lived his entire life here in the Cities. He is the son of Greek immigrants; though in fact, his mother was conceived in Greece, she was born in the U.S. His father hails from Athens. Happily, for George, he grew up speaking modern Greek at home and remains fluent today.

He has visited Greece several times, cherishing memories of the Acropolis in Athens and the White Tower in Thessaloniki. He loves Greek history, scenery, and food. He enjoys dining at Christos on Nicollet and Gyropoulos in Bloomington. An expert Greek folk dancer, George loves to kick up his heels!

He recently moved into a cozy studio apartment in St. Louis Park after experiencing leg strength issues related to medication, and he is grateful to be on the road to recovery. A devoted Catholic with a conservative outlook, he holds his faith close. He earned a BA in art from Bethel University with a minor in applied art and later completed a certificate in commercial art at Hennepin Technical College.

For many years, George worked in his family’s business, Wood Carver’s Supply Company, doing graphic design and eventually taking over the operation after his father retired. He describes himself as a lifelong multi-faceted artisan—practicing visual art, woodworking, culinary art, performance art through dance, and even literary art through the hundreds of riddles he has written. One of his favorites: “Why do the Irish iron the smocks and frocks, but not their shamrocks? Because they don’t want to press their luck!”

George’s love of dance extends to swing and ballroom. A wood identification expert with a passion for carving, he loves to share his knowledge and talk about all things wood. A self-taught cook and baker, he enjoys sharing recipes, exploring culture, and learning more about Christianity and the natural world. He hopes to find a friend who enjoys backgammon, good conversation, and shares his curiosity. George is private at first, but once trust is earned, he offers warm companionship. He prefers not to talk politics.
