Who We Are
We are a Minnesota-based nonprofit committed to creating connection and belonging for older adults through friendship-centered programs that build community.
Founded in 1973 as Little Brothers – Friends of the Elderly, our organization has spent over 50 years nurturing meaningful relationships to combat isolation and loneliness. In 2022, we became Friends & Co to reflect our evolving focus on inclusive, community-based connection for all older adults.
Our Mission
“Friends & Co celebrates aging through community-led service that fosters meaningful connections for everyone.”
Our Vision
We envision a world where every older adult thrives in meaningful relationships and belongs to a caring, vibrant community.
Why Connection Matters

Social isolation is a public health issue.
Research shows that loneliness is as harmful as smoking 15 cigarettes a day. It increases the risk of depression, dementia, heart disease, and early death. But it’s not just individuals who suffer—loved ones and entire communities feel the ripple effects.
Connection improves:
(individual, loved ones, community)
- Physical & Mental Health
- Cognitive Functioning
- Stress Levels in Caregivers
- Community Trust & Resilience
Our Programs
Creating Exponential Connection
Each of our programs is designed to nurture natural, mutual friendships that extend benefits beyond the individual:
Together, these programs build bonds that benefit individuals, their families, and the broader community — what we call exponential connection.
